Wow what an experience! I’ve had a great time learning about blogs and trying WordPress out in a way that I love the most: food and fun activities with friends and family. I have learned many things about blogging from adding widgets, pictures and videos to learning the many ways of promoting your blog to get more readers through social media like Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. I think my most effective tool I used in blogging was Twitter. Twitter really helped me to get more readers to know about my blog and even possibly become followers of my work. Also having a blog exercised my writing abilities and if I hope to continue this blog or create a new one to continue working on my writing abilities. A way that I could improve would be to better prepare for my topics as well as try to promote my blog in other fun ways to get more readers. A blog could definitely help with my skills in the work force if I wanted to create a website through WordPress or even networking with various bloggers interested in the same topics!
All of the past activities have been great experiences but the one I happened to enjoy the most was visiting the Texas Capitol in Austin. It was my first time going and it loved it. The architecture of the historic building was beyond beautiful from the inside out. It was also great to have people around giving us history about the Texas Capitol and what it was created for. Also, since I had to get back to San Marcos I decided to catch a bite down there at a place called Alvin Ord’s. They are known for their sandwiches on their crispy bread! Try their famous Salvation sandwich!
I enjoyed this past weekend. Who knew poetry and cupcakes could be the perfect combination fora weekend activity with friends? On Tuesday’s, Spider House Cafe and Ballroom hosts their weekly Poetry Slam event. For just $5 you and friends can come sit and enjoy locals perform their poetry talents to the crowd! I loved how casual and relaxing the whole event was and I also met a lot of cool people! We worked up an appetite and rode down South Congress and found the most adorable, tasty cupcake truck called Hey Cupcake! My favorite cupcake was the Sweetberry with Strawberry flavoring and strawberry cream cheese frosting!!
